It took almost a month longer than we expected but our a.Wang Noodle Bar kiosk will be finally opening this weekend! (fingers crossed and hoping dearly) I wanted to share with you some updates.
This is where our small noodle kiosk will open! Inside Parkview Green （芳草地）Food court near Crepanini
Early on, we told the designer we wanted a warm and modern place (with many other details), however, the designer had her own interpretation of that. The initial design went from dark & gloomy to que horror! (Ferrari tiles, really??). We had to do something about it right away! That night I put together a quick design to show her and in the end, the final design came out modern and warm as we had asked 🙂
my quick design (basic photoshop skill came in handy!)
Staff meeting with 5 staffs who will be working with us at the kiosk, I feel so blessed to be working with an experienced restauranteur like Sean, I’m definitely learning a lot firsthand about the production/management sides of restaurant business and how F&B business operates in China.– tested and fine tuned some old recipes (most recipes are his family recipes) and took some photos for the menu board (I admit I’m not a professional food photographer but in order to save some cost, I took some photos with my Nikon)
Indonesian Migoreng (new a.Wang signature dish!), Singaporean style beef gravy noodles (may introduce these early next year), testing various fried items – we narrowed down our choice to 6 items (as you can see, we ate noodles and fried foods daily…. and as a result, we have both gained big bellies..ahh! but I ain’t complaining because those were good noodles! yum! )
– visited many kitchen equipment centers to shop for utensils, bowls
Since it’s a kiosk, we are not allowed to use fancy ceramic/glass bowls so it was quite challenging to decide on the perfect bowl that not only looked big but also made out noodles look more ‘premium.’ In the end, we decided to use two types of bowls for dry / soup noodles quite different from our competitors’s.
still under construction! we will be moving into this place tomorrow, I can’t wait for it to open!! 🙂
When the noodle bar opens, I’ll be working at the kiosk everyday until the 22nd, come and say hi and of course try our noodles! 🙂
