Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a farmer? well, here’s a chance for you to be a farmer for one day in Beijing’s organic CSA farm this Sunday! How cool is that? plus another awesome upcoming food event. Come check it out and if you do see me, say nihao! 🙂
1. Slow Food – LET’S BE A FARMER FOR ONE DAY!
I went last year and I had an amazing time! You can read about my CSA farm trip post
from last year. It’s a good opportunity to learn what is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), how it works in China and also directly get involved in the farm daily chores: taking care of the farm animals (good thing I didn’t have to clean up cow manure (hehe), help out with the pre-summer harvest and enjoy a sunny day in the countryside! If you want, you can also purchase the veggies you helped harvest at a discounted price.
10.00 Leave with the bus from Kempinski Hotel (in front of)
11.30 Arrive at Shared Harvest
11.45 Introduction to the CSA by the founder, Shi Yan (PhD.)
12.15 Enjoy the Organic Lunch that Shi Yan and her helpers will prepare for us (seasonal veggies, grass-fed meat, free range eggs and homemade products)
13.15 Division into working groups and start farming
Group 1: Be shepherd and take care about the farm animals (rabbits and pigs) (<-being an animal lover, this was my favorite task last year)
Group 2: Cut off weeds
Group 3: Vegetables harvest
14.30 Farming group sharing and rest
15.00 Greeting and leave the CSA
16.30 Arrival at Kempinski Hotel
June 22h, 2014 (Sunday) 10.00-16.30
