Video Food Hunting in Seoul ep2. – King’s Feast at Seokparang

Posted on

Have you ever watched K-drama Jewel in the Palace (대장금)? well if you have, have you ever wondered what it’s like to eat like a Korean King?

How did you like our first Food Hunting in Seoul video we posted last week? I hope you enjoyed it! For those who are new to my blog, my friend and I went to Korea and researched over 100 restaurants in less than a month this year. We are making these food travel videos with a hope of getting a publishing deal in China and maybe who knows, else where too (fingers crossed) 🙂 In our 2nd episode of ‘Food Hunting in Seoul,’ Musichef TJ and travel writer Kayla take you to Prince Gung’s villa to give you a taste of Korean royal court cuisine! Let’s go Food Hunting!

Evaluation

1. Beautiful landscape, traditional Korean style buildings and garden
2. If price doesn’t matter to you, good place to experience Korean royal court food for the first time.
3.Plating Michelin star quality, restaurant where eyes take more important role than your taste buds. Good place to take business clients or for special events (up to 60 people)

Musichef Tip – reserve in advance and ask for a room next the entrance with a garden view or villa if possible.

Behind Story

There is one other reason why we chose this restaurant despite the steep price! Kayla and I decide to eat here not only to shoot our video but to celebrate my birthday. We ordered the Jinyeon lunch set with about 15-20 dishes per person. Everything was good BUT the problem was the dish came out one by one like a western restaurant which meant we had to wait for ALL the dishes to come out before we started eating. We waited and waited for all the dishes to come out so that we can take that one perfect photo and video footage. Must have been like 45 minutes wait… When all the foods finally came out, Kayla took so long to take pictures and videos (another 15-20 minutes in which time she did not let me touch the food) I got a bit angry. I know that she’s taking her time to make our video prettier BUT it was also my birthday and all the foods started getting cold. However, once we started eating, we forgot about all the wait and enjoyed ourself 🙂 IMG_9186

Now I understand the amount of patience gf’s and bf’s must have for their foodie lover who takes forever to take pictures of each food every day. On behalf of all the foodies, I apologize, from now on, instead of 10+ pics, we’ll only take 2-3 max pictures of each food! 😛
