Evaluation

1. The use of quality ingredients really makes a noticeable difference, their chicken soup has depth of complexity and flavors that many other samgyetang places don’t have. The use of many grains and their secret ingredients result in a very rich and thick soup!
2. Their original chicken soup did live up to their fame but their roast chicken was very disappointing
3.I haven’t tried it myself but a few of my friends told me their scallion pancake is also great, order one to share and let me know what you think 🙂

Musichef Tip Go here before 11:30am or between 2-4:30 pm to avoid 1+hr line! Take a walk around Gyungbok palace first then come here after 2pm 🙂

Behind Story

After a few days of continuous video shooting in the cold, Kayla and I caught a cold. So we decided to drink Samgyetang hoping the heat from the ginseng chicken soup will make us feel better…. and it really did make us feel whole a lot better! I guess the principle of traditional Korean medicine ‘Use heat to cure heat’ (一热治热)was right, this is also the reason why Samgyetang is number one summer food in Korea! 🙂 That night after finishing all our work, we visited a Korean style jjimjilbang (traditional Korean spa) to fully recover from our cold, it worked like a wonder! Next time, when you feel like you are about catch a cold, try a bowl of hot and nutritious Korean ginseng chicken soup then head over to Korean spa to sweat it out!
